Bout of Books 10

The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, May 12th and runs through Sunday, May 18th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure, and the only reading competition is between you and your usual number of books read in a week. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 10 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. - From the Bout of Books team.

I will definitely be participating in this bout of books as well since the last one was overall quite successful for me. In this one I don't think I will be aiming as high since I now have a full time job but I think this is a somewhat of a realistic goal.

If I do manage to finish all these I will be continuing the Bane Chronicles by Cassandra Clare so that by the time City of Heavenly Fire is out I will have everything read.

Are you participating?

Bout of Books 9.0 - Final Update

Was last week as crazy for you as it for me?

So, sadly I did not finish all of my six books. But I came so close! I finished 5 of them and read about 75% of the sixth one. So that ain't too bad. Ain't too bad at all.

The total page count came up to around 1300 pages which I'm super happy with.
I can't wait for the next readathon.

Book Haul (1)

Hey everyone :)
After Christmas I decided to buy a bunch of books online with the money I got for Christmas. I have only received everything now because shipping takes a really long time and the books remain in processing on Book Depository for the longest time.
I acquired quite a few books I've been keeping an eye on for the longest time and I also got a few ebooks.

And here are a few ebooks I got. I'm looking forward to read each single one of these books. So excited :D

That's it for now. If you have read any of these books and think I should read it asap let me know :D
Ciao for now.

2014 Resolutions

Yes, I am aware that we're almost half way through January but I was busy and Sherlock is back on (!!) so things have been happening I suppose. Exciting things.

I never really follow through with these things but here goes.

1. Try and read more books than last year. So last year I read 160 books. This year I am hoping to read 200 books. It's a big challenge but I will surely try.

2. Read at least 10 adult books. Last year I only read two adult books so this year I want to read 10.

3. Read more classics. Just cause.

4. Read books which are currently on my bookshelves. I just have this really bad habit of buying books whenever I see them at a cheap price and then I just forget about them. So I really need to clear my TBR shelf. Fo sho.

5. Learn to give up on some books. Yes, I really need to start doing that. I have this weird habit that if I start a book I have to finish it no matter what and I need to stop doing that because it makes no sense at all.

That's everything reading wise. I don't like to set resolution with regards to the daily life because I never keep them.

Adios.

The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare

If there is one thing I'm sure of, it's that Cassandra Clare must not stop writing books about shadowhunters. After finishing this series I could not understand why some people would not want to read any more books with shadowhunters in them. Don't listen to the haters Cassandra! Don't you listen to them!

While I really enjoyed reading the so far released books of the Mortal Instruments, I feel like the Infernal Devices trilogy is beyond better. It felt like Cassandra Clare matured in her writing style. The characters felt more alive, more likeable and a bit less juvenile perhaps. I don't know, maybe it's because I love historical fantasy. From the very first page of Clockwork Angel to the last page of Clockwork Princess I was on edge. Something was always keeping my attention. If it wasn't some battle, it was the beautiful writing style.

I'm usually sceptical with regards to love triangles but I really feel like it was done perfectly in this book for a particular reason; they are both incredible in their own way. You don't have one better than the other one. I mean, for crying out loud, I still can't decide between them. On one hand you have Jem who just has the most beautiful soul and wise beyond his years and on the other hand you have Will who keeps people at a distance to keep them safe. I also think that Tessa was a very strong main character who did not depend on anyone's help but rather preferred to fight.

Lastly I cannot not mention Magnus. I have to admit I just adore Magnus. When in Clockwork Princess he said 'All Lightwoods look the same to me -' I was like 'Ah, Magnus, you!'

Overall, it was an incredible trilogy with a great ending. And apparently it's become quite rare these days to get a (realistically) good happy ending.

Recommended for: Fans of the Grisha series by Leigh Bardugo and of course The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare

Favorite Quotes

“I can offer you my life, but it is a short life; I can offer you my heart, though I have no idea how many more beats it shall sustain”

“Most people are lucky to have even one great love in their life. You have found two.”

“Dear me," said Will, and he took another bite of his apple. "Is it because I'm better-looking than you?”

“The good suffer, the evil flourish, and all that is mortal passes away.”

"I can tell you that the end of a life is the sum of the love that was lived in it."

"Every life is finite, Will. And you knew, when you chose him, that he would die before you did."

"Life is a book, and there are a thousand pages I have not yet read. I would read them together with you, as many as I can, before I die-"

Bout of Books 9.0

Don't you just love readathons? I LOVE 'em. It's that time of year where you just push yourself to read those books which have been sitting or standing (?) on your shelves forever. I am going to be working this week but I still hope to get quite a bit of reading done nonetheless.

Bout of Books
The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. The Goals

Here is a list of the books I will be trying to read. I am not planning on reading massive books because that would probably be a bad idea. I do feel like if I read about 150-200 pages a day though, it would be quite a good week. I added like two extra ones I would like to read if by some miracle I manage to finish the first ones. Two of these I have already started.

Saturday

Note: I am so conflicted. I wanna stick to my TBR but I am kind of, sort of am hating Blood Promise but I need to finish it cause it's been on my currently-reading shelf FOREVER. But I wanna re-read Shatter Me and Unravel Me in preparation for Ignite Me so bad. Like you don't even know. I've been looking at them longingly and sighing (actually sighing, it's comical really) whenever I pass by my bookshelves like any girl would look longingly at Ryan Gosling. So yeah. It's bad. Ah, decisions, decisions.

Sunday
Read from: Blood Promise by Richelle Mead
Amount of pages read: 160 pages
Books finished: 0

WELL HELLO THERE!

Hi there!

I have finally decided to create a book blog. Yay. I have been meaning to get one in order to start posting book reviews and book hauls and all that jazz and finally I did it! So here it is! Yeah.

Ok, so I should probably start off by saying that even though I am technically an adult...I mostly read YA. I just can't help it. Give me a fantasy book over a serious adult any day. I don't read just fantasy either. I like contemporary realistic fiction, dystopian, paranormal and sci-fi.

That's all for now.
